Top Ten Tuesday: How Did I Do On My Winter 2025 TBR?

Hi and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post! Itโ€™s March 17, which means that itโ€™s St. Patrickโ€™s Day. In honor of this holiday, this weekโ€™s actual topic is green covers. But guess what? Iโ€™m going rogue yet again! And not without good reason, as itโ€™s time to look back on how I did on my Winter 2025 TBR! Next week we will be setting our TBR for this spring, so itโ€™s good to reflect and decide whether I should take some books with me to spring, and if so, which ones. This season was quite awful considering my reading enjoyment, so I think I am calling myself out with this post, but letโ€™s wait and see!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst โ€“ This sounds like a book you need to be in the mood for, and I simply wasnโ€™t. I read several other cozy books and if I read too many of them, I will put myself in a slump. And I was already in one, so better not to pick it up.
  2. Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad โ€“ This one I did read, but it didnโ€™t meet my expectations. Maybe these expectations were a bit unfair as well, but I was left feeling disappointed.
  3. Very Bad Elite by Jane S. Wonda โ€“ I simply didnโ€™t get to it. Itโ€™s on my possibility pile for March, but I doubt I will get around to it. This one will definitely be taken with me to spring, if I wonโ€™t pick it up by next week.
  4. Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli โ€“ This book fell victim to my slump as well as to the amount of other romantasy I read in Winter. I feel a bit too oversaturated by this genre at the moment.
  5. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn โ€“ I highly anticipated this book after reading so much praise for it, but I had my issues with it. I wasnโ€™t fully convinced. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I highly enjoyed it, but it certainly has its flaws.
  6. Jamesโ€™ geheim by Marijke Vos โ€“ Actually I was about to pick this one up over the weekend, but I prioritized another book.
  7. De zus van de chocolatier by Rebekka Eder โ€“ Another book that fell victim to my reading slump. Not that I didnโ€™t want to pick it up, but I just didnโ€™t.
  8. Graduation Day by Jhoelle Charbonneau โ€“ No, I havenโ€™t picked up this book either. I told you, I was in a slump and picked up less books than usual.
  9. Wildfire by Hannah Grace โ€“ No, I didnโ€™t feel this one either.
  10. A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross โ€“ I finished this one just a few days ago and havenโ€™t had the time to write my review yet, but I was honestly impressed. I didnโ€™t expect this though as I often struggle with this authorโ€™s books at some point. To be continued!

Out of the 10 books, I just read 3. This is merely due to my reading slump and struggling to find my reading mojo. The slump started in October 2025 and stretched well into February this year, so a tough and long one!

  1. Reading three when you’re in a slump is pretty good going I’d say!

  2. My daughter is a big Alice Network fan. I wonder if I will like it or if I will have a few reservations, like you.? Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  3. I hope you have more luck with your Spring TBR

    Thanks for sharing your #TTT

  4. I have read 9 of 10, from my Winter TBR! And the 10th “Flashlight” was released to me yesterday, so it will be read in the next week.

I am stunned. Thank you! I would not have checked except for your post.

  5. Honestly, I struggled with my winter TBR as well.

  6. Reading 3 is better than reading none. Hopefully you will emerge from your reading slump soon, Laurie.

  7. Your feelings about The Alice Network are very close to mine. While I enjoyed it, I’m not sure I loved it as much as everyone else. In many ways, I’ve found myself feeling the same about some of the other books by her.

  8. Hopefully you’ll be out of your slump soon! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  9. I hope you find your way out of the slump soon <3

  10. I had a hard time with THE ALICE NETWORK, which is weird because it sounds like the exact kind of book I love. I ended up DNFing it over halfway through because I just did NOT care what happened next. I’m glad you liked it overall.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

  11. Being in the right mood really matters! I hear you about cozy fantasy — I have to read them really sparingly or I don’t appreciate them at all.

  12. Try giving a favorite book or two a reread and see if it sparks your inspiration for picking up other books again. Reading slumps are the worst. If you feel you can’t read, do a different hobby for a while and see if it helps!

  13. Being a mood reader, I feel this. It’s been tough for me the last month. Sometimes I need to stop reading completely and do something else for a bit.

  14. Oh no, reading slumps are such a bummer. I’m glad you loved A River Enchanted at least! I read it a while ago and really enjoyed it too. I hope you get out of your slump soon and read some books that get you excited!
