It has been a long, long while since I last posted and curated a monthly TBR. The final time was October 2025, it went all downhill afterwards. Not too strange considering this is the month my reading slump hit me hard and I haven’t fully recovered from it ever since. But it’s March, nearly spring, so time to give these monthly TBRs another go. I again use my “up next” queue on The Storygraph, which I finally filled again as well. Which books do I hope to read in March?
In the queue
The first book I really need to pick up is Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy. Not that I truly need to do so… but you know what I mean. McCurdy had a stop in my local book store which is literally just two blocks from home for her book tour last week, which I attended. I had hoped to have read this book already before this event, but whenever you see my wrap up, you probably won’t be surprised why this didn’t happen. New chances in March!
In February, Wuthering Heights happened to be all over social media. Apparently there was a new movie adaptation coming out, which I wasn’t aware of. I never read the book, or any classic for that matter. Okay okay, I tried Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar, but failed miserably. I found this famous work by Emily Bronté with a large discount, so let’s see how this will end up. I will read it in Dutch and the 2015 edition. Maybe this is the year this book has been optimized for ereaders, or a new translation has been published, I’m not sure. All I know is that I want to take it easy and reading this book in English definitely won’t accomplish that.
March is Women’s Month and even though I don’t read that much seasonally or alongside events, I really wanted to read The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali for a while now. Unfortunately, all eyes are on Iran now after the American-Israeli attack on the country and its regime, but I promise picking this book is mere coincidence. It’s not translated to Dutch and I read all Kamali’s other books in my native language, so this might be a bit challenging.
Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a book I picked intentionally however. I have been wanting to read it for months now, but I never picked it up. This story is centered around four women, so what better time to read it than in March? According to my social media algorythm, it pretty much flew under the radar, but I could be wrong. In any case, it piqued my interest, so that’s what matters.
The final book I want to read this month is a Dutch one, and is also been on my disastrous winter 2025 TBR. I have to reflect on this one pretty soon, but it doesn’t look good on there when looking at the number of books actually read. However, James’ geheim by Marijke Vos is the final book in a historical fiction trilogy I started in 2023, but left long gaps in between books. This will be a quick read nonetheless, so I will be able to pick it up and finish it soon.
The possibility pile
I’m still a mood reader first and foremost, so I also have a few possibilities at hand:
- Very Bad Elite by Jane S. Wonda (Winter TBR, third book will be out in March)
- Cleopatra by Saara El-Arifi (I didn’t like another book by this author but hey ho, let’s go)
- Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid (I really do have to catch up, don’t I?)
