Top Ten Tuesday: Love Is On The TBR!

Hi and welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday post! As Valentine’s day is fast approaching, this week’s topic is a love freebie. And let me have been well into my romance era in the past few years, especially in 2024. Although I’m broadening my horizon nowadays, I still have so many books left on my TBR. So, it’s time for a deep dive into these! I split this list into two categories: contemporary romance and romantic fantasy (romantasy). What books do I hope to read soon?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Contemporary romance

  1. Wildfire by Hannah Grace – I actually should pick this book up soon in order to knock at least something off of my winter 2025 TBR, because this is going so, so bad.
  2. The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang – I read the first two books in this “The Kiss Quotient” trilogy, but I still have to finish this final one.
  3. Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid – In fact, I have to read the entire series, but I’m a bit fed up of ice hockey romances dominating the literary landscape right now. Everyone seems to Love this hyped series, but I haven’t even watched the tv adaptation. I’m not even remotely interested in doing so.
  4. Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone – Fellow blogger Bree is to blame here, because she has mentioned it several times in her Top Ten Tuesday posts. So naturally I was curious and added it to my TBR. I surely will pick this up in the near future!
  5. For the Fans by Nyla K – I know, another sports romance on the list, but this one is m/m. I love to read LGBTQIA+ stories and romances, so I will definitely be reading this one soon.

Romantic fantasy

  1. The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson – I actually should already have read this book according to my earlier TBR posts, but I just didn’t feel like it. It therefore still is on my TBR, although I have to pick it up anytime soon. I notice myself getting into kind off a romantasy bore out though, which sucks.
  2. Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider – This book was a huge hit in late 2025 and naturally I had to grab a copy. Of course it still is unread.
  3. Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco – This book is not marketed as such, but it definitely belongs in the romantasy genre. I finished the first two books years ago, but never picked up this third and final book. I felt a bit let down by the second installment of the trilogy, but somehow leaving a trilogy unfinished feels quite unsatisfying.
  4. Silver Elite by Dani Francis – This book was all over the internet last year, quite controversial. I have a copy, but it still is unread.
  5. Rose in Chains by Julie Soto – Many fellow bloggers have been raving about this author’s books, but I haven’t read any of them. However, I was pretty curious for this newest release, which definitely belongs into the romantasy sub genre. It again was all over the internet last year, so there was simply no escaping it. I somehow managed to do so, and leave it on the shelf unread.

Have you read any of these books? Or do we have some in common on our TBRs?

  1. I’ve read Helen Hoang’s books, and Metal Slinger, and I have Rose in Chains on my TBR.
    Thanks for sharing your #TTT

  2. I haven’t read any of these, but I have been reading some romantic fantasy recently with mixed feelings about it.

  3. I hope you enjoy reading all of these, if and when the opportunity arises.

    Here’s my TTT post: https://readbakecreate.com/favorite-romances-read-in-2025/

  4. I find it interesting to see which books take off.

  5. The Heart Principle is such an emotional book. I didn’t think of it was a romance so much as women’s fiction, but it was so good.

Also, I read the Game Changers series years ago so I’m enjoying all of the love for Heated Rivalry. But I can see how someone who wasn’t looking forward to the tv show as much as I was would be over the hype by now.

  6. Great selection! I’ve only read The Heart Principle so far, which I enjoyed.

  7. I’ve read the first two Heated Rivalry books after watching the show. The writing is pretty basic and I think the adaption improves them, but I still want to read the other books for some reason lol

  8. I have as yet to try Cara Bastone, I have seen her around. And yes Heated Rivalry is on every second podcast these days. I am not really tempted.

  9. I rarely read romance, so I haven’t read any of these. I hope you enjoy them all, though!

    Happy TTT!

  10. I haven’t gotten to The Heart Principle either. I hope you enjoy all these when you get a chance to pick them up.

  11. I’ve read Promise Me Sunshine and really liked it! I hope you enjoy whichever of these you end up picking up!

  12. I’ve not read any of these but since I don’t read romance that’s hardly surprising.

  13. I just read my first romantic fantasy—Time Loops and Meet Cutes—and now I’d like to read a little more.

  14. I haven’t read any of these, but Silver Elite is on my TBR. Lovely list!

  15. Oooh, I’m adding some of these to my TBR! I tried a Cara Bastone book and quite liked her but haven’t read any more. I should look into her other titles.

  16. Heated Rivalry is on my list to read. I read Julie Soto’s previous romances and loved them much more than her romantasy (Rose in Chains). I recently read Metal Slinger because of the hype too.

  17. I also have Metal Slinger on my TBR – also I hope you end up loving Promise Me Sunshine, haha!

  18. I am on a looooong waiting list for Heated Rivalry – so exciting to see a written series become such a huge hit on mainstream TV.

    Love your list!

  19. I really enjoyed The Heart Principle. And I’m intrigued by some of the romantasy ones…though I haven’t read any of them. Happy reading all of these…whenever you get around to them. And thanks for commenting on my blog earlier. 😀
