It’s Tuesday again and I was a bit on the fence about whether to participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week since the topic is a Halloween freebie. I don’t have anything with this celebration as we don’t really celebrate it here. It’s gaining more popularity each year though. However, I dug through my own archives for this meme and I found a post called Creatures of the Night that I published on October 31, 2023. So, the only logical thing to do is to follow it up with another list like this, right? Without further ado, let’s get spooky with some more creatures of the night!
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
- Crave by Tracy Wolff – Even though I put this book aside four years ago, I somehow wanted to give it another try. I recently did and I found not only vampires, but dragons and witches as well. Very much Halloween like!
- Darker Days by Thomas Olde Heuvelt – This book finaly been translated to English. In Dutch, it was published in November 2022 which was really fitting as the Dutch title is November. It fits the plot better though. The horror vibes are all over the place! The problems start each year after Halloween and last until the end of November. Due to spoilers, I can’t get into more detail about this book. It was not my favourite book by this author though.
- From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout – This series also contains several scary creatures of the night, so can’t be overlooked on a Halloween list.
- The Cruel Prince by Holly Black – These fae can be classified as creatures of the night, because they aren’t the nicest ones out there.
- The North Wind by Alexandria Warwick – Another book with several creatures of the night, because one of the characters can get really scary once they show certain emotions. (review)
- Fresh Blood by Nicole Arend – A bit of a cheesy vampire novel, but nonetheless really addictive. (review)
- The Raven Boys by Maggie stiefvater – This book is not only pretty atmospheric, but the plot is also centred around the hunt for a ghost. (review)
- Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco – A trip to hell shouldn’t be left out of a Halloween themed list, and this is exactly what will happen in this trilogy. (review)
- Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber – This series includes vampires, something I didn’t expect at first.
- House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland – I couldn’t get through this book myself, but the atmosphere is pretty, pretty creepy.
Have you read any of these books?
