WWW Wednesday | 10/23/2025

It’s Wednesday once again and I haven’t done a weekly reading recap in a couple of weeks. I was – and still am – in kind of a reading funk and I have no idea what triggered it. Is it my annual autumnal slump or are the books I’m picking not what I’m in need of at the moment? Who knows! At least, I’m making progress on one book and I even finished another, the second one in October. I know, unusual for me!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?

What are you currently reading?

At the moment I’m reading two (or three) books. I’ve been slogging through Alchemised by SenLinYou for over a week now. It’s a very long book (about 1,100 pages?) and I honestly have no idea why it is appealing to so many people. So far, I’m absolutely not impressed. I’m just over one third now and I wonder whether I want to continue or put it aside.

As I needed a break from this book, I decided to give Crave by Tracy Wolff another chance. Admittedly, I feel like I at least need to finish some books in October after all. Ironically, I put this book aside more than four years ago because I just couldn’t be bothered. Surprisingly enough, I’m enjoying it this time around and I have a feeling I will be finishing this one either tonight or tomorrow.

Oh and I decided to start Very Bad Kings by J.S. Wonda, but haven’t picked this one up in over a week. I think I won’t track it or continue it, I’m not enjoying it at all. It’s too dark and twisted for me. This sounds like a TikTok aka TrashTok hype and it truly shows.

What did you recently finish reading?

Recently I just finished one book in all those weeks, Finding My Way by Malala Yousafzai. I’m not a hard non-fiction reader. Even more so, I usually avoid these books. However, when this memoir became available last night I decided to dive in straight away. The writing is very smooth and before I knew it, it was 3AM and I finished half the book. Finished the other half after work yesterday. Not sure if I will be writing a review for it though as I’m struggling with reviewing non-fiction.

What do you think you’ll read next?

What will I be reading next? Hmm, I don’t know. I have set a whole TBR for myself at the start of this month. Whereas I did really well in the past, I’m not keeping up now. Moreover, I’m not sure if I feel like reading Arcana Academy by Elise Kova, The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson, Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater or A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher at all. Maybe I’ll let my mood dictate my next pick to try and prevent myself from slumping further.

How was your reading week? And what do you think I should read next?
