Hi and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday post! I usually post at midnight, but I was so incredibly tired last night that I just couldn’t sit straight up and write this post anymore. Furthermore, I had to work today. It therefore is pretty late. However, I still want to list some satisfying series, as this is the topic for the week. And no, I didn’t include Sarah J. Maas as that would have been too easy.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
- The Prison healer by Lynette Noni – I’ve read this series as soon as I heard about it back in 2021. I was on the verge of a reading slump and the first book was finished within 24 hours. That was pretty quick and I fully enjoyed it. The sequels as well, although the final book contains a quest and that’s not always for me.
- Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa – Even though the second book suffers a bit from second book syndrome, it’s not bad. It involves a lot of travelling, but reveals so much that will be necessary in the third book. Speaking of which, that ending is terrible. Just terrible. It lets you feel all the feels!
- The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee – I needed three attempts to finally finish the first book in this series, Jade City. However, the rest is history, because the other books in this series were hard to put down and again made me feel all the feels.
- The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – Yes, one of my favourite series! I love all these books individually as well as how all the stories are connected and come together at some point. I loved it!
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – Do I need to say more? I’ve been pretty late in discovering and reading this series back in 2015, but loved it ever since. The companion series, Bloodlines, is also strongly recommended by me.
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – This series truly stands the test of time and is still relevant today. The newest prequel is one of the best books I’ve read all year.
- Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I never expected to like this series as much as I did. It’s cheesy, but with enough tension and angst. I devoured each book in just a matter of sittings, mostly two or three. The companion series The Darkest Star however, is one I had tougher times with.
- Harbinger by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I usually wouldn’t put an author on the list twice, but I also love this series. This one is the companion to Dark Elements, a series I had a bit of a rough start with. This one however, captivated me from start to finish. To be honest, I miss the author writing series like these, the later series are either too long or not too engrossing.
- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – The first young adult series I’ve read without even knowing the sub genre exists. I still love them, I did a reread during the pandemic when I had much more time on my hands. Yes, there is one slower book, but overall it’s such a satisfying guilty pleasure.
- Rizzoli & Isles by Tess Gerritsen – Although the quality of these books is declining for the last three instalments, the previous books are great. They are intriguing and contain enough gore for me to keep me satisfied. I always wanted to find out how the stories would unfold. The latest novels in this series are unfortunately a bit to tame for my thriller burnt out self.
- Daevabad by S.A. Chakraborty – I just couldn’t leave this series out of the list, because these books are lovely, great, awesome! Different from the mainstream, but that’s what makes them so charming. They are long, but I just couln’t put them down once I got the hang of the story.
Have you read any of these series? What series do satisfy you?
