It’s Wednesday again and that means that yet another week has flown by. In contradiction to the past two weeks, I am not in limbo between books. This is merely due to the fact that I was so incredibly tired yesterday that I didn’t manage to write a post. Because, I indeed did finish a book on Tuesday once again. Without further ado, let’s take a look at my reading this week!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?
What are you currently reading?
Everyone has been talking heaps about one particular book for months now. This book is Katabasis by R.F. Kuang. It gets quite mixed reviews, but there already is a movie deal for it. I’m in a buddyread for this book, so naturally I started it. There are two things I’ve already noticed even though I’m not even 10% in: A) 2025 is the year of main characters named Alice as this is my third book in three months with a main character named Alice and B) there are footnotes in this book. And I hate footnotes. They are so distracting and take me out of the story. I’m glad I decided to read this book in my native language, because there are so many references to philosophers and classics that I wouldn’t even be able to comprehend it when reading this in English.
What did you recently finish reading?
Last week I’ve managed to finish three books. I therefore finished my monthly TBR I’ve set for August, this is a miracle. So, last week I indeed started Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun and my review will be up tomorrow. Afterwards, I picked up If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales and Cale Ditrich, a book that has been sitting on my TBR for years. It was not too bad, but not too great either. Last but not least, I finally picked up a book by Fredrik Backman, I hadn’t read anything by this author before. I decided to pick up his latest novel, My Friends. Although it’s not a 5-star read, I enjoyed it enough. I only have to organize my thoughts on it in order to write my review.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Next, I was contemplating picking up Arcana Academy by Elise Kova. But, this is yet another dark academia and I’m off work next week, so I might pick up something lighter as a palate cleanser. I’m not sure what book this will be, but I have plenty to choose from.
How was your week in books?
