A new month means that it’s time to set a new monthly TBR! Lately I’ve been doing really well in sticking to these with maybe just one book to take with me to the next month. In July however, this went not so well, and I have to take 3 books with me into August as a result. I of course supplemented the “up next queue” on The Storygraph and I also have some possibilities for this month ahead. Let’s take a look! I will change the format of my post, because adding all the covers was just a ton of work and I felt so drained after creating these posts. Since this is a regular feature, I have to take it easy for myself.
In the queue
- Last month, I was 100% convinced I would read Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Many people are enthusiastic about it and even though I was not too sure at first, I got more and more interested. However, I chose other books, so this one took the backburner. A new chance in August!
- Another book I was convinced to read in July was Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun. In summer, I always tend to gravitate to romances with the warmer weather. I did so in the past month, but there are so many to choose from. I nearly picked it up, but I wanted to knock another book off the TBR that had been sitting there for a longer while.
- I thought The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith was going to be the book of the month in a Discord server I’m in. Or at least, it was looking like it would be for a very, very long while that by the time I had to curate my TBR, I was really convinced that it would end up as a winner. Plot twist, it did not. No worries, I would pick it up nevertheless. Spoiler alert, I did not. Again, another chance in August.
- Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab ended up being said book of the month, but it came really close. When I remembered this, the month was nearly over. This one therefore has been moved from the possibilities to the queue.
- If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales is a book I have on my TBR for years now. In 2025, one of my goals is to clean out this TBR and read the backlist titles for once. This is just picked randomly and let’s see if I will read it in August!
The possibilities
Okay, I just randomly selected some possibilities which are quite anticipated reads of mine though:
- The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson
- The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig;
- Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa (not anticipated like the ones before, but on my summer TBR nevertheless).
Have you read any of my books in the queue or my possibility pile?
