WWW Wednesday | 07/23/2025

Oh gosh, it has been forever since I last did one of these! I gave you a weekly reading update on April 30, 2025 for the last time. Whoops, this was not meant to take forever. So, after nearly three months, it’s time to give you a heads up of my week in books!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?

What are you currently reading?

After putting it on several TBR’s for months and then completely forgetting about it, I finally picked up Heir by Sabaa Tahir. So far, it’s enjoyable, but I’m just a few chapters in. I see so many parallels to “The Ember Quartet”, many characters of this series are mentioned or make an appearance in some way. I can’t tell you too much because of spoilers, but even though it’s kind of a different world, I think this book will make more sense if you read the other series first. And that is not a punishment! Unfortunately, these books are pretty overlooked as they are not popular on Booktok and Bookstagram (anymore?), but they are so worth it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Usually, I don’t read books in the same genre back-to-back. Or at least, that’s what I try to do. But this week it happened as I just finished reading Blood & Steel by Helen Scheuerer. It’s your typical romantasy with all the tropes and elements that belongs to books in the sub genre. The plot is quite predictable, but addictive at the same time. You want to keep reading and at the end, you want to continue the series. I will do so, but I’m not sure when.

I also listened to Period Power by Maisie Hill, but that one won’t count towards my reading goal as I have the rule for myself that I have to rate all the books I read for my yearly reading challenge. But it feels unfair to rate nonfiction as there’s no plot line. And I barely read the genre, so I’m not the right person to judge a book by a rating. I listened to this particular book as I wanted information on something which I got, so that’s good.

What do you think you’ll read next?

At the start of this month, I set myself a monthly TBR. And what did I read from it? Nothing, zilch, nada. Okay, except one book of the TBR and one of my possibilities. I should shift my focus towards these books now, shouldn’t I? I might pick one of them alongside my current read, like I used to do. But I read faster than I review and there’s a lot of fantasy on this one. Oh well, let’s find out what my mood decides on!
