It’s Tuesday once again and that means, of course, time for another Top Ten Tuesday post! This week it’s all about re-reading. I used not to be much of a re-reader. However, I discovered the pleasure of this behaviour several years ago. Until now, I’ve re-read plenty of books, for many different reasons. So, let’s find out!
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
- The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – I read this series back in 2017 in Dutch, but wanted to re-read them in English. I did so a year later and still enjoyed them! However, fast forward a few years and I was hitting the winter reading slump once again. So, I got back to this series to get me out of it.
- The entire Sarah J. Maas verse – Very simple, I read most of the books in Dutch and I wanted to re-read them in English. For the entire “Crescent City” series this was also a memory refreshment. And I recently re-read several of the ACOTAR books to test out Kobo Plus. I’m not finished with my “Throne of Glass” re-read though!
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – In 2020, it marked five years since I read this series for the first time. And of course, it was the pandemic and all that, so I decided I had plenty of time to do a re-read. I also did with Bloodlines, but I’m taking my time with that one. I’m still not finished as I’m on the fourth book right now.
- I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson – A few years ago, we did a pride readalong with this book and I therefore had to re-read it, in order to host it properly.
- Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I read this one in English, but the American jokes were mostly lost on me as English is not my native language. So, I wanted a re-read in Dutch. And yes, again during the pandemic.
- One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig – I had trouble understanding the poetic writing style, so in order to hopefully understand the hype, I re-read this book in Dutch. I ended up having understood more than initially thought. I’ll be re-reading Two Twisted Crowns later this year, as I was too stubborn and decided to read it in English.
- Fourth Wing and Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros – I could remember NOTHING when starting Onyx Storm, so this was damage control.
- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – You remember the pandemic, right? And the release of Midnight Sun? Both factors led to a re-read of this nostalgic series. And I loved it.
- Many books by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I read them in Dutch first, in English later and vice versa. Too many to mention. Too messy. Not all of the books qualified for a re-read though.
- The Seven Husbands off Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – I nearly forgot this one, but I re-read this multiple times.
Are you a re-reader? Why do you, or don’t you, re-read books?
