Top Ten Tuesday: 2025 Backlist Mid-Year Check-In

It’s Tuesday and the start of the third quarter of 2025. My monthly wrap up for June and my July TBR will be up later, but since today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a freebie, I’d like to revisit the backlist titles I want to read in 2025. Have I been reading the backlist books I have set as a goal for myself, or do I have to do a major catch up the second half of the year? Visit the original post for the links to Goodreads.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi – I don’t know what’s wrong with me regarding this book, but I keep postponing this one. I keep forgetting and other books get prioritized over this. Needless to say I still haven’t read it.
  2. Tokyo Dreaming by Emiko Jean – I finally read it, and I enjoyed my time spent on this book.
  3. Wildfire by Hannah Grace – It’s not that I didn’t want to read this one, I just haven’t found the right time. And also kept forgetting about its existence. I read other romances from the backlist instead.
  4. The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi – No, I haven’t read this one either, but I acquired an ebook copy so that’s one step in the right direction.
  5. Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender – This was one of my final reads for June, finally. After 5 years.
  6. The Woman In Me by Britney Spears – I haven’t read any nonfiction so far this year, so this one is still on my TBR.
  7. The Last Rose off Shanghai by Weina Dai Randel – OMG, this is so bad, but I really have something to do here, right? I haven’t picked up this one either!
  8. For Fallon by Soraya Naomi – And yet another book I haven’t picked up. At this point I doubt I ever will, but I’m feeling a bit hesitant to remove this from my TBR. What if it happens to be a real nice surprise?
  9. The Survivors by Alex Schulman – Oh well, this post is getting so boring, I’m sorry. But I haven’t read this book either.
  10. Dragon Rider by Taran Matharu – And finally we have a book I did read! Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by it.

This is so… Bad. I have only read 3 out of the 10 books from the backlist I’ve set for 2025, so I really have to catch up! However, I read other backlist books though, so that’s a win!

How well have you been doing on your backlist titles so far?

  1. Congratulations on reading three of the ten on your list. I’m sure you’ll be able to read the rest this year, if you want of course.

i have only read Tokyo Dreaming of this list and loved it (read it a couple of years ago). I don’t know if I want to look at that tbr list I made a few months ago .. i am guessing most remain unread as of today.. 🙂

  4. Plenty of time to still read the other ones if they are still calling your name!

  5. You still have half a year to read them. You can do it! I believe in you 🙂

    Happy TTT!

Well honestly I never can read my backlist books! It seems I must read a book whan I buy it or I won’t!
