Monthly TBR | May 2025

Another month, another TBR! Whereas I did quite well in March with 1 book left, it didn’t work out so well in April. I have multiple books left as I was not in the mood for them. So, let’s retry in May, as some of these books have been on my TBR for way and way too long. Again, I use my “Up next” queue on The Storygraph to create and curate this TBR. Furthermore, I also have a small pile of possibilities, because you never know what happens as I’m a mood reader at heart. So, let’s take a look at the books I hope to knock off this never-ending TBR in May!

In the queue

Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy by Marie Lu is off to round 3, it has been in the queue since I started doing these posts in March. I really hope to read it soon, but I have to be in the mood for it and I read other dystopian YA novels the past months. But third time lucky I guess!

James by Percival Everett

Another book I just didn’t get to in April is James by Percival Everett. I therefore take it with me into May, with the expectation to read it this month.

Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley

One of the books that has been on my TBR for years is The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley. Her books are often a hit for me, so I expect to enjoy this one as well.

Burning Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber

And off to young adult fantasy again with Burning Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber. I read the second book in this “Twin Crowns” series back in 2023, but I wasn’t too certain whether I wanted to find out how Wren’s and Rose’s story would end. I figured I still do, but I never took the chance to pick it up.

Caught Up by Liz Tomforde

I really have to catch up on Liz Tomforde’s “Windy City” series. I enjoyed the first two books, but I never picked up the third. I read this series in Dutch and the fourth one is being published in June, so it’s time to catch up and read Caught Up!

Possibilities

The Wedding People by Alison Espach

I have to admit that I didn’t really consider any possibilities for this month, but after thinking it through, The Wedding People by Alison Espach is on this pile again. It was before, but I didn’t get to it. As spring and summer are more of the contemporary seasons for me, it will be a good fit.

Powerless by Elsie Silver

Another book I really should read is Powerless by Elsie Silver. For one it’s on my spring TBR, but it also has been a year since I read another book in the “Chestnut Springs” series. Well, let’s see how this works out!

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

Finally, it would be great to knock Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender off my TBR after putting it on there in 2020. I know I know, I keep saying I will read this book but never do. So, it’s time to hold myself accountable.

What books are on your TBR for May?
