Monthly TBR | April 2025

Every now and then, it’s refreshing to try something new on the blog with the hopes of this particular new thing to be working out well. One of my never ending reading goals is to decrease my TBR. I’m a mood reader at heart, so I find it tough to stick to a TBR that’s set in stone. However, The Storygraph has a nice feature that has proven to be helpful to me in terms of cleaning this TBR. It’s called the “Up Next Queue”. At the start of every month, I will be listing what’s currently in this queue and I will try my best to read these books in said month. I will also add some possibilities, books I want to read, but aren’t in this queue. This to satisfy the mood reader in me. Apparently, I did really well on this in March, so let’s try this again! So, what’s on the TBR for this month?

In the queue

Prodigy by Marie Lu is actually the only book that I didn’t manage to pick up in March. Somehow, I was not feeling it with on one hand fantasy books that disappointed me, and Sunrise on the Reaping with a similar kind of vibe (dystopian) on the other hand. To avoid a reading slump, I decided to move this one over to April. Let’s hope I can knock it off this month!

I added Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher to the queue in the middle of last month as I put it on my overall seasonal TBR for Spring 2025. I didn’t manage to read it as the month was already over by the time I thought of it. This one is definitely for this month!

James by Percival Everett is another one that’s on my Spring 2025 TBR. I think I will be reading it in April since this looks like a more challenging novel and when the temperatures rise, I prefer some more easy reads. But who knows!

In March, I put The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater on the “pile of possibilities”, together with two other books. Whereas I read the others, I left this one. I simply ran out of time. I’m definitely curious for this book, so I now moved it to the queue.

Finally, there’s Phantasma by Kaylie Smith. I want to read this book ever since late 2024, but I keep picking up other books. So, now it’s time.

Possibilities

In light of spring vibes and rising temperatures, I’m looking for more contemporary books. The Wedding People by Alison Espach is one I have heard lots about, and I therefore am very curious to read it myself. Let’s see if this will happen in April.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata is on my TBR for forever, alongside several other books by this author. But this is ridiculous, so let’s try to pick it up!

The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin is a book I already own for nearly a year but haven’t picked up yet. I think this has been sitting unread on my digital bookshelf for far too long now, so it’s time to figure out what this is about.

Have you read any of these books? And what books are on your April TBR?
