Welcome back to another WWW Wednesday post! Last week, I had quite a productive reading week as I may say myself. We already got a glimpse of Spring over the weekend, so I was able to sit on my balcony and read in the sun again. It’s quite early in the year, but it gave my reading a definite boost! So, let’s see what I’ve accomplished this past week, shall we?
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading a book I picked for my March TBR, and I also have been eagerly awaiting: Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao. This is the sequel to Iron Widow and even thouggh I wasn’t fully convinced by this novel, the ending intrigued me more than enough to await the next book. However, I’m bored. Beyond bored. I miss the action the first book is known for, it feels like this is something totally different. It feels dragging! I hope this will improve, but according to reviews it won’t. Funny how reviews differ on different platforms, because on The StoryGraph most reviews are positive whereas this book has lots of – trustworthy – negative reviews on Goodreads.
What did you recently finish reading?
First of all, I put The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem on the DNF pile at 57%. I was beyond bored as up to that point nothing remarkable has happened. The main character isn’t interesting at all, so it was time for abandonment. I really wanted, and trusted, to enjoy this book so I was a tad disappointed. Right after, I finished Splintered by A.G. Howard, a book that started of interesting and right up my alley but ended up being mediocre at best. Finally, I started and finished The Girl Behind the Wall by Mandy Robotham, a historical fiction novel about twins who got brutally separated by the Berlin Wall as they happen to be on aother side of Berlin on the night the wall was built. I had an interesting time with this book, my review will be up as soon as possible.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m not too sure what I want to read next. I think it will be definitely a book from my March TBR or the possibility pile. Maybe Quicksilver by Callie Heart? Deep End by Ali Hazelwood? I’m longing for an easy read I will enjoy as I feel a reading slump coming.
Have you read any of the books mentioned?
