It’s Wednesday yet again, so let’s take a look on my past reading week! What am I reading? What have I read? And what will I read? Let’s figure this out, shall we?
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?
What are you currently reading?
This week I’ve been struggling with The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem. I’m currently 56% in and by the time this post gets published, I might have DNF’ed it. The premise looks interesting, but the execution is messy. It’s too hard for me to understand. The main character seems to get flashbacks whenever she likes to, even though this means in the middle of a inner monologue, dialogue or whatever scene. This makes this book hard to follow. Furthermore, nothing has really happened at this point and this is kind of a dealbreaker for me. The main character is boring too. I think I will just check out the ending to decide whether it’s worht to continue or if it’s better to put it aside for good. I enjoy the Egyptian inspiration, although I don’t really see how this world is influenced by Egypt.
What did you recently finish reading?
Last week I finished only one book, Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett. I was a bit disappointed and even fed up with it in the end. It’s not bad, but less intriguing than the other books in this trilogy. My review will be up tomorrow, I promise!
What do you think you’ll read next?
My next read should be a quick one, I think I will go for The Reality of Everything by Rebecca Yarros or Splintered by A.G. Howard. These are on my monthly TBR, so I was planning on reading them soon anyway.
