It has been eons since I last did a WWW Wednesday post! In fact, this is my first one of 2025. I had a good start with my reading year, but somehow, it’s not going so well now. And there’s an emergency reread to blame for this…

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?

What are you currently reading?

Let’s start with this emergency reread, because me having to reread “The Empyrean” series by Rebecca Yarros was not on my bingo card for this year. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy this series, but I’d rather read something new (as new books means new blog content) instead of having to reread old series in order to be able to understand the newest book in said series. This happened to me last week, I dove into Onyx Storm first thing on Tuesday morning, but I was so incredibly lost and confused. Fast forward to my current read and I’m happy to report that I’m on about one-third into my Iron Flame reread, so hopefully I can read Onyx Storm very soon.

What did you recently finish reading?

Last week, I put Beautiful Mess by Claire Christian aside for Onyx Storm, but oh well. Not repeating myself. So, I picked up Fourth Wing to reread instead and I luckily finished that. Furthermore, I finished Beautiful Mess, this book was on my TBR since early 2018. My review will be up sometime soon, but I’m glad I gave this book a fair chance instead of removing this blindly.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I will definitely be reading Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros! I hope to finish this before next week and afterwards I need a break. A break from fantasy, because reading a series back-to-back is not what I usually do, let alone enjoy. I have several books on my “Up next” queue on The Storygraph, but I realize these are mostly fantasy, including another dragon book. Nope, no more dragons for me at that point, I need something else. The only non fantasy books on this “Up next” queue are The Reality of Everything by Rebecca Yarros (yes indeed) and Tokyo Dreaming by Emiko Jean. I think I will pick up the latter one as this is a book by a different author and it has been sitting on my TBR for years. I want to focus on my backlog this year, so no excuses really to postpone this once again.
