Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-me Authors I Read in 2024

I’ve been a little absent lately, because I barely finished any book. I was hoping to have finished Onyx Storm by now, but I was so lost and confused that I have to reread the entire series from the start. At the moment I’m rereading Iron Flame, so I hope to be reading something new again very soon. So, i barely have blog content to share. I also forgot today is Tuesday, so that’s why my Top Ten Tuesday Post is so late! Today, I’ll be listing several new-to-me authors I have read in 2024. This was my romance year, so naturally you’ll find many romance authors in this post.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. Elsie Silver – My first new-to-me author of the year and I’ve read one more book by her. I’m planning on reading the rest of the “Chestnut Springs” series as well.
  2. Lauren Asher – Another romance author I’ve heard lots about. I’ve read The Fine Print, but nothing else yet.
  3. Lyla Sage – Let’s stay in our small town romance vibes one more time, because I also read Done and Dusted by this author. I’m planning on reading more to give this author a fair chance, to be continued!
  4. Tarah DeWitt – Many bloggers seem to love this author, but my first impression was not so great.
  5. Melissa K. Roehrich – I read the entire “Lady of Darkness” series almost back to back last year and I’m definitely planning on reading more.
  6. Caroline James – I enjoyed The French Cookery School, but it was more of a palate cleanser and I’m not sure if I want to read more by this author.
  7. Colleen French – I enjoyed The Summer Daughter, but it again was a palate cleanser for me.
  8. Rachel Gillig – I’ve read the “Shepherd King “ duology because of the hype and although I had a good time, I wasn’t the biggest fan. I’m therefore not sure whether I will be reading this author’s next release.
  9. Fonda Lee – I finally read “The Green Bone Saga” and am keen on reading more.
  10. Xiran Jay ZhaoIron Widow was an unexpected surprise and I’m definitely planning on reading Heavenly Tyrant as soon as possible.

Which new-to-me authors have you read before?

  1. I haven’t read any of these authors. I am busy right now updating my list of reviewed books and it is painfully obvious to me that I don’t often read the same author over and over. There are just a few authors I make sure to read everything they publish based on my previous reading experiences, but not many. So every year is a long list of new authors.

  2. I have read both Colleen French and Caroline James, in fact the books you read, but they were not new to me this year. I haven’t read any of the other authors you mentioned, though.

  3. I’m so curious about The Green Bone Saga.

  4. Fab list – love Rachel Gillig!

  5. Silver and Asher are two that I just got a couple books to try. I hope to give them a go this year. Great list!! Fonda Lee is amazing!!

  6. Fonda Lee has been on my list for a while… I think? Have to check… 😏

  7. I read very little romance and fantasy, so I don’t recognize any of these authors. I’m glad you enjoyed them, though!

    Happy TTT!

  8. I am the same with Onyx Storm – I’m 50% in but I was lost and pushing through but I feel like putting it aside for now lol. We shall see! I’ve read four of these authors on your list: Asher, Gillig, Lee and Zhao and have enjoyed their books!

  9. Fonda Lee is amazing, and the Green Bone saga is an all time favourite series of mine. I also loved Iron Widow… this is a great list 🙂

Ooo I finally read a Fonda Lee too but started with Exo! Thanks for dropping by earlier!

  11. I haven’t read any of these authors! It’s always interesting when a book has loads of buzz online and the bloggers adore it, and then you read it and it’s just, ‘meh’. I’m like, what am I missing here?!
