It’s Tuesday and that means time for another Top 5 Tuesday as well! Earlier this day I posted my Top Ten Tuesday post with the books on my Winter 2024 TBR, but I have another list for you. Last week, I talked about five familiar authors I read in 2024 and now it’s time to pick five new-to-me authors I read this year. I have to admit that I really had to think about this post. But, here we go!
Top 5 Tuesday is created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and is now hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads. Each Tuesday, participants share 5 books that fit the assigned topic for the week. There’s a Link-Up where participants share their link so others could visit and react!
Melissa K. Roehrich
I never heard of this author before, until someone in a Discord server I’m in suggested the “Lady of Darkness” series. I barely read indie authors, so I admittedly was a bit sceptical at the start. This was all for nothing, because I was hooked and I almost read the entire series back to back in August. Something I never do.
Tarah DeWitt
This author I’ve seen being mentioned a lot on other book blogs and therefore had to try her work. Unfortunately, Savour It was not what I was hoping and expecting, I think this author is just not for me. This particular book felt really shallow to me.
Elsie Silver
A popular Booktok author and my first two impressions were good. I wonder how she will hold up when reading more of her novels, won’t they be too formulaic for me? Same goes for Lauren Asher actually, so I won’t be mentioning this author separately.
Sarah Adams
Another author I’ve seen mentioned a lot on book blogs and I picked up one of her very popular books, The Cheat Sheet. I have to admit that I was absolutely not disappointed! I’ll be picking up more of her work some day.
Kennedy Ryan
Before I Let Go was a book that immediately grabbed my attention and I knew that this would suit my reading preferences very well. It’s raw, emotional and trigger heavy, the way I like my books. I mean, these prove to have so much depth into their stories and this one delivered. I’ll be picking up the other books in the “Skyland” series anytime soon.
These are several of the new-to-me authors I’ve read in 2024. I kind of feel ashamed, because when looking into it more deeply, I didn’t read as diverse as I’d hoped to have done and I need to do better in 2025.
