Top Ten Tuesday: How Did I Do on My Fall 2024 TBR?

It’s Tuesday which means time for another Top Ten list! This week’s original topic is Books to Read During a Storm and is suggested by Astilbe. As I’m not particularly a seasonal reader and since we will be setting our Winter TBR next week, I thought this is a good time to look back on my fall TBR. Fall was a pretty good reading season, I read more than last year. However, November was my ultimate low of 2024. But did I managed to pick up the books I wanted to or was my mood reading self deciding something else yet again? Links will direct you to my reviews.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree – No, I still haven’t picked this one up. I think, or hope, to still do this in winter, otherwise this has to move to fall 2025. This is not a book for spring I believe.
  2. The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore – I have no idea why I put this on my TBR, probably because of FOMO and the vibes. Well, the only vibes this book gave me are annoyed, irritated and frustrated ones. This book was so bad in every aspect, I didn’t enjoy it at all. This simple romance took me about two weeks to finish and that’s too long for a book with this relatively short length.
  3. Fate of the Sun King by Nisha J. Tuli – My review will be up later this week, but this cliffhanger is brutal!
  4. Tale of the Heart Queen by Nisha J. Tuli – This book got published on November 24 and I just ran out of time.
  5. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – I already picked this up right at the start of fall season and that was a good decision. I can’t wait to make time for the second book!
  6. The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde – No I haven’t read it and only because I was slumping so hard in November that I ran out of time.
  7. Born of Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I definitely have read this and this book was the cause of my slump in November. It took me forever to finish it!
  8. Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissssa Broadbent – I also read this one and although I had a good reading time, I missed something in both characters and plot. It’s a stand alone novel and they don’t work that well in fantasy I believe.
  9. The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent – Again, I ran out of time.
  10. Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood – The books I’ve read this fall are so average and my experiences with this author’s books is not the greatest, so I was reluctant to pick it up right now. I therefore didn’t.

Out of the 10 books I’ve read 5, so that’s quite good. I hope to read the others as soon as possible, because some probably won’t hold up the first half of the year. Especially The Wren in the Holly Library gives me so many fall/winter vibes.

How did you do on your fall 2024 TBR?

  1. 5 out of 10 is really good!

  2. I’ve only read one of the ten books I put on my Fall TBR. There were a couple of DNFs, and one I started and just haven’t picked back up.

November was my all-time low too. I think I read only 2 books, so you’ve done much better than me! Great List, I haven’t read any of these books so your thoughts are really interesting 🙂

  4. Legends and Lattes was very slow for me. I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe was a bit much for me and I preferred The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore, although again there were a lot of unnecessary scenes! I still have one Ali Hazelwood book on my shelf and others to read at some point.

You did well though. I very rarely make it through my plans unless the books have deadlines attached to them!

    Have a great week!

  5. Good job on your autumn TBR!

  6. The Raven Boys series just keeps getting better and better. Enjoy!

  7. What a lovely recap, 5/5 is solid. I’m afraid to look at my own list haha. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=989234119905752&set=a.454356460060190

  8. I’ve been seeing Legends and Lattes and Pumpkin Spice Cafe everywhere – I have also been hesitant to pick them up because of the hype surrounding them but seems like it was a good call on my part haha
Hoping you can get through your whole list and enjoy the Raven Boys!

  9. I have seen similar things about Pumpkin Spice Cafe! I almost fell for it, but decided to look at more reviews that weren’t on Tiktok/Instagram. So sorry it didn’t work out for you.

  10. I like Ali Hazelwood’s books, its the same formula and she use tropes i dont love, but she is hilarious, so i ignore it

    1. All romances are formulaic in the end.

  11. I felt the same about The Pumpkin Spice Café – got sucked in by the FOMO and the vibes but alas ended up disappointed.

  12. Reading half is great. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  13. That’s very disappointing about The Pumpkin Spice Café, I might not bother with it now.

    1. I don’t understand why Booktok and Booksta is hyping it up so much honestly.

  14. lol I didn’t love Pumpkin Spice Cafe either! 🤷‍♀️

It sounds like you did great on your Fall list! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  16. Love how you decided to change directions for this week’s post! I have such a difficult time with booktok or bookstagram hyped books (like The Pumpkin Spice Café). If I don’t read it before all the hype, then I usually dislike the book.

  17. I also did really not like The Pumpkin Spice Cafe….and I’ve read The Wren In The Holly Library and I didn’t like that one either haha.

    1. Oh no 🙁 I barely see anyone talking about it though, is this a sign?

  18. Great list! I’m so impressed with how many you read or are reading from your fall TBR, especially after I read NONE of my own. And The Raven Boys has serious winter vibes.

    1. Many were extremely anticipated LOL.
