Top 5 Tuesday: Familiar Authors I’ve Read In 2024

It has been several weeks since I participated in Top 5 Tuesday. This post was meant to be up earlier, but my brain didn’t want to function properly last night, so I was struggling with today’s topic. This week we’ll be talking about old authors we’ve read in 2024, but “old” has so many meanings. I saw Meeghan talking about familiar authors she has read in 2024 and then it clicked for me. So, I present you, five authors I’ve read in 2024 I already knew!

Top 5 Tuesday is created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and is now hosted by Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads. Each Tuesday, participants share 5 books that fit the assigned topic for the week. There’s a Link-Up where participants share their link so others could visit and react!

Lucinda Riley

I got familiar with this author’s work back in 2018 when I read The Seven Sisters. Riley passed away in 2021, but there’s still plenty of her work to discover. This year I’ve read The Love Letter, something quite different from the usual fiction she wrote. This book is more of a thriller. It has some flaws, but overall, I had an enjoyable experience.

Kristen Ciccarelli

It has been years since I’ve read anything by this author and I honestly wondered if she would ever publish another book. She eventually did, and what a pleasant surprise The Crimson Moth was!

Emily Henry

This author is quite beloved amongst the Booktok and Bookstagram crowd. I’m a bit conflicted about her novels, they fall a bit flat for me. I have had two reading experiences in 2024, Book Lovers which I really dislike and Happy Place which quite redeemed itself. It will never be my favourite book, but it was much more tolerable than the former one.

Nino Haratischwili

This author is not really known in the English speaking world, but her books are really challenging. Especially now since Georgia has been in the news regarding the elections over there. I’m talking about the country in Europe here, not the state in the USA. I already read two books by this author, but after the last book being a bit disappointing, I was quite hesitant to pick up her newest novel. It’s a huge one and I was wondering whether I would like it. Yes, I did. I really did. It’s not your standard happy and fluffy romcom, it’s pretty heavy, tense and serious historical fiction with dark themes and raw emotions.

Kristin Hannah

It also has been several years since I’ve read books by this author, but in 2024 it was time for two of her novels. I finally read The Four Winds after having this on my TBR for years, as well as the very hyped The Women. This book is worth all the hype and praise. It’s so good. It’s dark, tense and handles such important themes.

Have you read any books by these authors ever? What familiar authors have you read this year?

  1. I need to read more Kristin Hannah books. Historical fiction is my favorite genre, but I’ve fallen off the historical wagon lately. I miss it.

  2. I tend to stick with familiar authors more than I should, since I think it’s good to discover new writers. I would like to try Emily Henry someday😁

  3. Emily Henry and Kristin Hannah are both authors that I read in 2024, as well as in earlier years! I’ve loved so many of their books.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever heard about the author on your list today – but Kristin Hannah is definitely gonna make it to my tbr!
