Top Ten Tuesday: Books I can’t Believe I Haven’t Read

Welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday! This week is a thankful/Thanksgiving freebie, but since we don’t celebrate this holiday on this side of the world, I needed to think of something else. I dove into the rich archives and I found a very old topic I gave yet another spin. The topic I’ve chosen is “Books I can’t believe I Read”, but I tweaked it into “Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read”. Trust me, there are a lot… So, let’s take a look!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. 11/22/1963 by Stephen King – Okay look, I have started this book, but abandoned it. Why? I started it right before I moved houses, so I had no attention span for a long book like this. Furthermore, I like Kings’concepts and ideas, but the books are often way too detailed. Everyone is raving about it, so maybe I just should give this book a fair chance after all.
  2. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick – Nope, haven’t read this entire series. I discovered the YA genre when I was well into my 20s, so missed out on a lot. This series is one of them.
  3. Fallen by Lauren Kate – Actually, the same as for the previous one.
  4. The Secret History by Donna Tartt – I think this book is just not for me. It’s A) Dark Academia and B) very slow and that’s a cocktail that’s not working for me. At least, I think so. However, it’s hyped up a lot lately.
  5. Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt – This has been on my TBR for a good while, so I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up yet.
  6. The Girl With the Louding Voice by Abi Daré – This book has made so many Top Ten Tuesday lists by now, it’s ridiculous. I still can’t believe why I haven’t read it.
  7. Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews – I have this book in my Audible library for a good while now, but never pressed “Play”. And I just now found out I have added the wrong book on Goodreads all those years ago, whoops.
  8. On the Edge by Ilona Andrews – I bought this book years ago, it sounds right up my alley. But I still haven’t picked it up and I don’t know why.
  9. Angelfall by Susan EE – Another YA hype I’ve missed. I still don’t get why I didn’t pick this up, because I really enjoy other series that were published and hyped at the same time.
  10. Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan – Someone please tell me why I haven’t read this book yet?! I mean, it’s definitely a story I would enjoy, but I haven’t picked it up yet?

Can you believe I still haven’t read any of these books? What book(s) you can’t believe you haven’t read yet?

  1. I haven’t read 11/22/1963 yet either.

  2. I’ve read a lot of Stephen King books, but I haven’t gotten to 11/22/1963 yet. It’s just too big! It’s intimidating.

  3. I loved Girl with the Louding Voice. It was one of my favorite reads in 2021, and I was so excited to find out there’s a companion novel out now.

  4. I was late to read Angelfall and, when I did, I was so hooked! Read it next!

  5. If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t read any of these books either! REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES is one I wanted to get to this year and just haven’t. I’m also interested in THE GIRL WITH THE LOUDING VOICE. One of these days…

    Happy TTT!

  6. I picked up Remarkably Bright Creatures recently and am planning to put it on my 25 in 2025 so that hopefully I read it next year. I also missed out on Fallen and Hush Hush although I did own Fallen. I just never got around to picking it up.

  7. I love this topic idea, and I’m not surprised, since you march to the beat of your own drum and read what you want, rather than what’s hyped up. The only one from this list that I’ve read is The Secret History and it was a slow slog that I didn’t enjoy in the end. But I did love The Goldfinch. Have a great week Laurie!

  8. Remarkably Bright Creatures is amazing! Highly recommended!

  9. Remarkably Bright Creatures is wonderful – I highly recommend the audiobook version. I really enjoyed that Stephen King book too when I read it a few years back.

  10. Hush, Hush and Fallen did catch my attention as a teen, but there were so many books, and I always put them off, and now I don’t think I would enjoy them.

  11. I loved 11/22/1963, but I can see how trying to read it while moving and being busy might not be a great combination. I do hope you get to give it another try! I really loved Remarkably Bright Creatures too. As for Secret History, I know people rave about it, but I did not like it (and I feel very alone about this!). The plot just didn’t seem worth the fuss to me.

  12. I haven’t read any of these books either! A couple of them are on my radar to read eventually

  13. I can believe you haven’t read these books, because I haven’t either! This idea is so relatable, I feel like there’s a mountain of books that I haven’t read and will probably never find the time to read. The Secret History is a book I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions about but maybe I should give it a try someday. I hope you’ll love these books if you ever choose to read them 🙂

  14. The only book on your list I have read is 11/22/1963 and I thought it was excellent. The Secret History was a DNF for me, maybe I should give it another go some time. The rest of your list are all new to me so I will have to go and find out what I am missing.

  15. I haven’t heard of these books so it’s quite okay by me that you haven’t read them. Sometimes I find that buying books keeps me from reading them, I guess I figure they aren’t going anywhere. Maybe that’s what’s happening with On the Edge.

  16. I have done a readalong on your #4. Terrible awful characters, but brilliant writing!
I want to try #1 one day!

  17. I need to reread Angelfall. I was obsessed with it when I read it, and I’m curious how it holds up.

  18. I loved 11/22/63 and Remarkably Bright Creatures. The King book reads way more like historical fiction than his typical horror type books, but I can understand not having the bandwith to read it while in the middle of a move. Have a great week.
