WWW Wednesday | 10/23/2024

It has been a while since I participated in WWW Wednesday. I don’t know why, but sometimes I forget about it, sometimes I just don’t feel like posting something in this meme. But this week, I felt like doing so.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?

What are you currently reading?

Currently I’m reading 2 books: When the World Tips Over by Jandy Nelson and The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore. I was quite uncertain if I would like the first book since I had a rough start with both other books by this author. I again had this problem, but less than the previous times.

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe on the other hand is a whole different story. I just don’t like it. I can put it aside for a long time, I think it’s taking me nearly two weeks already and I’m not even at the halfway mark. Im in no way interested in this small town and it’s inhabitants, I think this book is just a bit too cozy for me and therefore too low stakes. I’m deciding on whether to just DNF.

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé Monday last week, another book that was a mismatch with me. I also listened to the Dutch version of The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent and the amount of spelling and outright translation mistakes in this book were honestly shameful. I usually am able to read past this, but now they even stood out to me.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I really have no clue, I want something exciting because I feel the slump coming.

Not sure what next, may be a physical book. I’ve a few lined up as I don’t like paying over £10 for ebooks, which I don’t even own. I’d rather pay a bit more for the HB or PB. So it may be the latest JD Robb
