Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Fall 2024 TBR

It’s officially fall since Saturday and that’s exactly when I wrote this post. It’s very sunny outside and according to the weather forecast we still have summery temperatures over 20 degrees this weekend. The final weekend I could wear a summer dress it seems. However, it’s time to think of a fall TBR and that’s exactly what this week’s Top Ten Tuesday is about. So, here are several books I would like to try to read this season!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree – I’ve tried this book in spring 2023, which was admittedly not the best time to read it. I had lots of trouble with this book, story wise and writing wise. The Dutch version got published in May this year (yes, again in spring), so I will give this book another chance.
  2. The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore – The title says enough, right? Maybe this book is a little too cozy for my taste but who knows.
  3. Fate of the Sun King by Nisha J. Tuli – I’ve been saving this book so the wait for the final book in this series won’t be too long and agonizing.
  4. Tale of the Heart Queen by Nisha J. Tuli – This book is expected for publication in November.
  5. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – I moved this book from my summer TBR to my fall TBR because I think this season would be a better fit for a story like this.
  6. The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde – This book gives off spooky vibes and therefore fits this season. I think I’ll read it in my native language though.
  7. Born from Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I’m not the biggest fan of the “Flesh and Fire” series, but I want to finish it anyway so Poppy’s and Casteel’s story would even make more sense.
  8. Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent – I always thought this was part of the “Crowns of Nyaxia” series, but apparently, it’s a stand alone set in the same world.
  9. The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent – And we actually get a new tale in the “Crowns of Nyaxia” series, but this one comes out late November. Not sure if this will fit in this fall.
  10. Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood – I wanted to read this book in summer already, but I’m a little cautious with books by this author as they are really a hit or miss for me.

What books are on your fall TBR?

  1. Legends and Lattes is on my TBR list, too, hopefully this year! I tried to start the audiobook of it last month, but then got overwhelmed with other stuff and just returned it to the library for other people to listen to. I hope you meet your TBR goals this autumn!

    1. The audiobook was part of the problem for me though.

      1. Maybe the translated version of the book will work better for you!

  2. I’m supposed to read Legends and Lattes at some point (it was a friend rec last year for that FB post that goes around every year around the first). I hope you enjoy these and have a great week.

  3. Laurie, I hope you enjoy reading all of these books. Legends and Lattes was a favorite of mine last year, but I understand that every book will not work for every person.

  4. I really enjoyed Not in Love, even though it was spicier than I prefer. She moved away a bit from her normal formula.

  5. Legends and Lattes was a DNF for me as well. Someday I will try it again, though.

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.

  6. I just started listening to the Pumpkin Spice Cafe on audio. I had to see what all the hype was about. Lol.

    1. How do you like it so far?

  7. Nothing but rain, rain, rain where I’m at. The Pumpkin Spice Café keeps popping up in my feed. I think it’s a sign I need to look into it.

  8. The only book on your list that I’ve read is LEGENDS AND LATTES. I enjoyed it even though it’s not my usual genre. I didn’t LOVE it like so many other have, but I liked it. I hope you enjoy it more this time around as well as the rest of your picks.

    Happy TTT!

  9. We have had such hot weather here!! It’s officially fall, but feels like it’s August! There’s a lot of great books on here. I hope you enjoy them!

  10. I hope you like Not in Love.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

  11. Great TBR! I hope you will enjoy them all.

  12. Fab list, hope you enjoy them when you get to them!

  13. Raven Boys is definitely a good fall theme. It starts on St Mark’s Eve and I’ve always wanted to time a re read for starting that night!

  14. I also want to read The Pumpkin Spice Café but it has 16 weeks to wait in Libby, it’s not a story I want to read in January, January sounds wrong

    1. Fall 2025?

  15. I’ve added Legends and Lattes to my TBR list, happy reading.

  16. I loved Legends & Lattes! I’m sorry you couldn’t get into it the first time but I really hope you’ll end up loving it this time!

  17. I’ve read a few from your list – The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, Not In Love, The Wren In The Holly Library & Legends and Lattes.

  18. I hope Legends and Lattes works out for you this time. Happy reading!

  19. Raven Boys is a good one for fall.

  20. Great list! I forgot I still haven’t read The Wren in The Holly but I’ll hope to do soon.

  21. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe sounds perfect for this time of year!

  22. Legends and Lattes is so cosy – perfect for this time of year! I hope you enjoy it.

  23. Aw, I love Legends & Lattes — hope it works better for you when you give it another shot.

I know a lot of people love The Raven Boys, but the whole idea of an actual Welsh person (Owain Glyndŵr) who once lived and fought the English being used as a plot device who grants wishes and is buried in the US just sickens me, it’s disgusting. Especially given Stiefvater decided to anglicise his name instead of using Welsh orthography, and clearly didn’t understand the first thing about the culture she was stealing from. So gross.

    1. Oh I’m not familiar with Welsh culture at all so I wouldn’t have noticed. Read it in 2018 already but didn’t understand it.

  24. These sound good. A couple of those I have wanted to read for a while! It is sunny and warm then rainy which is confusing. I wrap the kids up to do the school run then end up stripping the layers off on the way to the school!

    Have a great week!

  25. Legends and Lattes is a fun book. I hope you enjoy all these!

  26. I hope you enjoy them all!! I’m really looking forward to Broadbent’s newest.

  27. You know, I’ve still not read Legends and Latte’s which is crazy considering I loved Bookshops and Bonedust! I also have Not in Love to read, so I might end up popping that on an upcoming TBR. I hope you enjoy all of these 🙂

  28. Oof, I am so behind on these series from JLA! I think I need to read the second Fire and Flesh book still and with From Blood and Ash I think I am up to the 5th book? They are so deliciously long and I am such a slow reader! I usually save one for a summer road trip but I am still sooo behind!

    Thanks for visiting my TTT!

  29. I haven’t read any of these, but as a fellow failed-in-spring, trying-again-this-fall reader of Legends & Lattes, I always appreciate the art of curating seasonal reads that really fit the season; great list.

The Wren in the Holly Library is one I’m particularly curious about, and I just realized now that I forgot to add it to my Goodreads TBR and probably would have forgotten about it, so thanks in particular for the reminder.

  30. I hope that the Dutch version of Legends & Lattes works better for you – it’s such a cozy, heartwarming book! I also love the sound of The Pumpkin Spice Cafe – it looks like the perfect fall read!

  31. […] since we will be setting our Winter TBR next week, I thought this is a good time to look back on my fall TBR. Fall was a pretty good reading season, I read more than last year. However, November was my […]
