Top Ten Tuesday: How Did I Do On My Summer 2024 TBR?

Itโ€™s mid September and that means only one thing: fall is fast approaching. Since we will create our fall TBRโ€™s next week, itโ€™s time to reflect on my TBR of Summer 2024. This summer was quite good reading wise, but did I manage to read everything I hoped to read? Links direct you to my reviews.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

  1. Tokyo Dreaming by Emiko Jean โ€“ I feel ashamed to say this once again, but I havenโ€™t read it. I planned on reading it though, but another book sounded more up my ally at that moment.
  2. Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez โ€“ No, I havenโ€™t read this one either. I think I even forgot about it, nor have I read the other books in this series. I want to read them first before picking this book up, so this will linger for a while.
  3. Before I let Go by Kennedy Ryan โ€“ Yes, I read this at the start of summer and I was positively surprised by it.
  4. The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab โ€“ No, I havenโ€™t read it. My plan was to reread the entire โ€œShades of Magicโ€ trilogy after rereading the first book back in June, but it never came to this. So, this has to be put on some later TBR.
  5. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater โ€“ I got my Dutch copy, but havenโ€™t picked it up. I was reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig and it has kind of a similar vibe which I was not ready for.
  6. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor โ€“ Yet another reread which I didnโ€™t get to. It was for book club, but no one actually finished this book. The meeting went ahead though. I also forgot about my plan to reread this book in summer. So I think Iโ€™ll just let it slide.
  7. Did I Mention I need You? By Estelle Maskame โ€“ Well, guess what? Havenโ€™t read this one either.
  8. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid โ€“ I read this book finally and unfortunately wasnโ€™t a fan of it.
  9. The Chase by Elle Kennedy โ€“ No, I havenโ€™t read this one either.
  10. Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas โ€“ Yes, Iโ€™ve read this one. It was just finishing my reread though.

In the end, I only read 3 out of 10 books, which is actually not that great considering my long TBR. However, I read many other books this summer and some of them have been sitting on my TBR for a while.

How did you do on your summer 2024 TBR?

  1. I loved Strange the Dreamer and The Raven Boys, the whole series. I’m frantically trying to finish up two last books on my Summer reading list before summer end this week! Then onto Fall reading.

  2. My summer TBR didn’t go so well either. Of the ten I mentioned, I’ve DNFed one, read one, and am currently reading one. But like you, I did read some other pretty great books.

  3. I’ve been eyeing up One Dark Window lately too.

  4. I always enjoy looking back at TBRs to see if I actually read any. I count it a win if I knock even 1 off my list. LOL!

  5. I’ve been wanting to read One Dark Window and I like that it has a similar vibe as The Raven Boys (I read that years ago so I think it’s been long enough for me to dive into a similar vibe)

    1. Maybe not that similar, but both have a dark atmosphere and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it just yet.

  6. This is why I rarely do TBRs ๐Ÿ˜‚ I do love The Raven Boys though, and on audio! Thanks for dropping by my post!

  7. I’m usually a fan of TJR too, but I didn’t like One True Loves very much either!

  8. I can’t even remember what is on my Summer TBR ๐Ÿ˜‚ I doubt that I have done overly well as I forgot about the Summer Holidays and with my son home we were out and about so my reading time vanished!

I think that 3 is still a good number ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Have a great week!

  9. The only one I’ve read here is One True Loves, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it either. I know it was recently made into a movie, but I haven’t seen that.

  10. I’m rereading Throne of Glass this year. I’m currently reading Tower of Dawn.

  11. The Raven Boys will be perfect for autumn ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I’ve only read a couple of these books, but both The Raven Boys and One Dark Window are favorites of mine.
