I haven’t been active on Top Ten Tuesday for the past two weeks because I simply couldn’t come up with lists for these topics. Today’s topic is a tough one for me as well, because I’m not sure if a book I enjoyed is a debut novel or not. It could be that said author was self-published before their books got picked up by traditional publishers. So, I changed Debut Novels I enjoyed into Introductions to Authors I Enjoyed.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
- Bloodlines by Richelle Mead – This author wrote multiple books already before I finally came across this first book in a six-books series. I didn’t know it was a spin-off to the Vampire Academy series, I found out whilst reading. I devoured said series after reading Bloodlines and The Golden Lily first. I tried reading The Glittering Court after, but that definitely was not for me.
- The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen – This is the 9th book in the Rizzoli & Isles series, whoops! But, it was my introduction to this author so it counts. I then started to read the other books in the series though. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Listen to Me, the latest book in this series.
- It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover – I know this book and author are highly controversial now, but I read this book in 2018 before Booktok existed and hyped this book up. Now I think it’s overhyped, but back in the day I enjoyed it. Admittedly I read another book by Colleen Hoover first, but I hated that with a passion. So I don’t see that as my introduction to this author.
- A Courrt of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – I read this series first and the rest is history.
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – I read this book three times now, enough said?
- City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – I was very late to the party, because I read my first Shadowhunters book back in 2019. And again, the rest is history. I’m up-to-date with the main series now, I don’t really care for the spin-offs and bonus books to be honest.
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo – Another series I started very late, I believe it was also 2018 or 2019. I enjoyed the entire Grisha series, but I never enjoyed another series by this author. No, not even Six of Crows.
- Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I first heard about the Lux series when it got published in Dutch back in 2018 and it was already quite old at that time. However, I devoured all books once they got published, so who cares LOL.
- Paper Princess by Erin Watt – One of my guilty pleasures is the Royals series by this author duo which is also my introduction to Elle Kennedy in a way. I always said I would never start this series and I have to admit I nearly gave up after reading a few chapters of the first book. Well, I got sucked in eventually and couldn’t stop.
- Cinder by Marissa Meyer – How could I not mention one off my favorite series The Lunar Chronicles? I started in 2017 when the books got republished in Dutch. They were translated, but only the first two. Now the series was completed.
Which introductions to authors did you enjoy most?
