In life
This was quite an uneventful week at first, but ended with the news I’ll be starting a “new” job in September. Not exactly new, but just a different location and office. Also, summer is back, although there’s a heavy downpoor at the moment. We had high temperatures and since my appartment building originates in the late ’50s/early ’60s and has been renovated, the heat still lingers inside a bit longer. It wamrs up easily but cools down slowly in summer. In winter it’s the other way around, because the warmth is leaving the house quite soon. Let’s hope it cools down rapidly now!
On the shelf
I managed to read quite a few books this week. On Sunday, I finished Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee. That same night, I started listening to Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross which I finished on Wednesday night. Then, I started Daniels belofte by Marijke Vos, a Dutch historical fiction novel. When I finished this on Thursday (it’s not a long book), I started Breek ons. Niet. by Laura Kneidl, which is originally German but isn’t translated into English. I’m reading this in Dutch as well and I have to admit that I have to get used to reading in Dutch again after reading a lot of English books lately. I finished a good portion of it already, but I felt quite restless and started Reckless by Lauren Roberts on Thursday as well. Many people seem to experience this one as tough to get through, but this doesn’t apply to me. I flew through it in a breeze. I finished it last night. I still have Empire of Storms pending, but I just didn’t feel like continue this one. Maybe this is not the right book for summer? I had trouble with this reread from the start and that’s June 20 already.
