Goodreads Monday is a meme hosted by Emily @ Budget Tales Bookblog. The purpose of this meme is to talk all things Goodreads like you want, but it mainly is used to highlight a book that has been on your TBR. My Goodreads TBR is long, so without further ado, here’s my pick for the week.
I have to report that my TBR is still growing, there are now 269 books on it. I know I know, I should clean this one out, but I’m so bad at it! This week’s pick has been on it for years, but I’m not sure wether I still want to read it and here’s why.
Running With Lions by Julian Winters
This is a bit odd, because Goodreads gives me two different dates I added this book to my TBR. The website says June 10, 2018 and the app May 26, 2022. Maybe I added it twice, i should check that. I believe the website though, because I use a number generator for this meme and this was on #3 on the TBR shelf. Also, it’s quite at the bottom of my Kindle app and I started using that in 2018 so all the reason to believe the website date. However, it’s YA and I’m straying away from this age category. But… It’s queer and therefore I haven’t removed this. Has anyone read it and do you think it’s still worth it for me to read?
Bloomington High School Lions’ star goalie, Sebastian Hughes, should be excited about his senior year: His teammates are amazing and he’s got a coach who doesn’t ask anyone to hide their sexuality. But when his estranged childhood best friend Emir Shah shows up to summer training camp, Sebastian realizes the team’s success may end up in the hands of the one guy who hates him. Determined to reconnect with Emir for the sake of the Lions, he sets out to regain Emir’s trust. But to Sebastian’s surprise, sweaty days on the pitch, wandering the town’s streets, and bonding on the weekends sparks more than just friendship between them.
