Top Ten Tuesday: 2024 Backlist Books Reflection

We’re already nearly halfway through 2024 (can you believe it?!) and at the start of the year, I Compiled a list of Backlist Books I want to read this year. The original topic for this week is Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2024, but I’m so incredibly out of the loop with new releases, I have no idea what’s actually going to be published at all. So, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on all those backlist titles that are still on my TBR. How am I douing with this earlier top 10?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Links redirect you to said reviews on the blog if there are any.

  1. Book Lovers by Emily Henry – I read this quite early in the year and unfortunately for me, this wasn’t a great success.
  2. Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett – Well, I picked it up, read 1 chapter and decided to put it aside. Maybe it wasn’t a good time for this book back then since cozy fantasy is a hit or miss for me and I just finished another book within this subgenre, or this book isn’t for me at all. Not sure yet.
  3. True Biz by Sara Novic – I finally listened to this audiobook and it was definitely interesting. However, I forgot most of this story already.
  4. Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng – Ouch, fforgot about this one.
  5. Boy Queen by George Lester – I’m planning to pic this up soon.
  6. The Pearl that Broke its Shell by Nadia Hashimi – I didn’t read this book, but another backlist book byt this author.
  7. The Challenger by Taran Matharu – I didn’t pick this up because I have been more in a romance mood these past few months.
  8. The Chase by Elle Kennedy – This book is planned for this summer sometime.
  9. Peach Blossom Spring by Melissa Fu – No, I haven’t read this book either. I’ve read many other books set in Asian countries though, so it was a bit too much for now.
  10. Rebel by Rebecca Yarros – And again, i read another backlist book by this author.

So, as you can see, this challenge is not going well at all. Out of the 10 books, I only read 2 of them.

How are you doing on your backlist titles this year?

I have a hard time sticking to lists as well. I’m definitely a mood reader. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  5. Don’t beat yourself up too much! There’s still a lot of time left in the year.

    1. I know, but I already read more than 50 books and surpassed my reading goal. So it’s interesting to see that I picked up mostly new books instead of backlist ones.

  6. Haha I loved both Book Lovers and Emily Wilde!

  7. Good luck completing the list!

  8. OUR MISSING HEARTS is one I want to get to as well, although I don’t feel any need to rush. I have a copy of the book, so I can read it when I feel like it. I hope we both enjoy it!

    Happy TTT!

  9. Cozy fantasy is a hit or miss for me too so I haven’t read Emily Wilde’s book #2 but I hope you can eventually get to read all of these!

  10. I still need to read Emily Wilde as well! It sounds so stinking cute

  11. I can see how Emily Wilde can be a hit or miss for some. I enjoyed it but it was a much slower pace than I’m used to!

  12. Good luck with your challenge! I really liked Emily Wilde. It’s a fun story.

  13. Good luck with your challenge! I’m scared to make one of these, because I know I wouldn’t do very well on it.

  14. […] I wanted to read in 2024 and how well I did or did not do on this reading goal. I already did a mid-year check-in, but now it’s time for the end of the year […]
