Wrap Up | May 2024

It’s June which means summer has officially started. The weather is telling otherwise, but still, summer is here. The first half of this year is almost over, can you believe it? May was a pretty good reading month if I say so myself. The sun shone quite a lot which made it possible to finally read outside again. Unfortunately I had a funeral this month and work was pretty hectic. The latter won’t be changing anytime soon, but thankfully I have my first summer leave at the end of this month. Amidst all the chaos, I managed to read 9 books and just wasn’t able tofinish the 10th. So, here’s my May wrap up!

Read

  1. The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson – I don’t read a lot of (YA) mysteries these days, but I was positively surprised. 🎧★★★★
  2. Godkiller by Hannah Kaner – I didn’t know this book until a book event and it made me curious. Unfortunately this type fantasy is just not for me. 📚🎧★★,5
  3. Happy Place by Emily Henry – I have a love/hate relationship with books by this author and this one was my final chance. Even though it’s definitely not the best book out there, I didn’t want to throw it out of the window so it’s progress I believe. 🎧★★★
  4. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams – A book I went into blindly and I had a great time! Started out as audiobook, but I didn’t like the female narrator at all. 📚🎧★★★★
  5. De vrouw van de uitvinder by Rebekka Eder – A historical fiction that hasn’t been translated into English. 📚★★★★
  6. True Biz by Sara Novic – I finally picked this book up and it definitely was interesting, but forgettable nevertheless. 🎧★★★
  7. Heartless by Elsie Silver – I enjoyed this second book in the “chestnut Springs” series, but I wasn’t fully invested. 📚★★★,5
  8. The Women by Kristin Hannah – This one is so emotional and so good, I finished it in just over a day. 🎧★★★★
  9. A Soul of Ash and Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout – A Dutch reread in hopes of catching up on Dutch reviews. I failed in that, but loved my reread. 🎧★★★★★

Bookhaul

  1. Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree (I think this book suits me better in Dutch)
  2. Powerless by Lauren Roberts (idem dito, I couldn’t get into it in English)
  3. The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin
  4. Everything We Never Said by Sloan Harlow
  5. Priest by Sierra Simone
  6. Dragonrider by Taran Matharu
  7. Breek ons. Niet. by Laura Kneidl
  8. Rule of the Aurora King by Nisha J. Tuli
  9. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams
  10. Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez
  11. This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
  12. In the Likely Event by Rebecca Yarros

Whoops, my bookhaul went a little out of hand compared to the reading I accomplished in May. Well, I want to read these as soon as I can, that’s a valid excuse right?

How was May for you?
