It has been ions since I did a Book Tag, so it was about time don’t you think? I’ve been seeing several interesting tags around lately and I have beenmeaning to do them. So, today I will start with the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag since we’re already halfway through April and a quarter of 2024 already has gone by. I haven’t been tagged myself, but I took this tag from Confessions Of a Serial Reader.
How many books have you read so far?
Actually, I’m surprised by the amount, because I never ever ever expected to already have finished 40 books so far. Several have been huge ones, but others haven’t been. Also, audiobooks help a lot admittedly. My goal is 50 so that’s going to be much more easier than I could imagine in late 2023 when I had to decrease my reading goal.
Have you found a book that you think might be a 2024 favourite?
It’s probably quite predictable, but House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas. I just couldn’t put it down once I started listening to the audiobook.
Any least favourite book of the year?
I unfortunately had some DNF’s, but also several lower ratings. However, I expected a lot from Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare, but was left disappointed. World builing and character arcs are excellent, but the plot itself is rather boring. Oh wait, I even forgot to mention Book Lovers by Emily Henry…
Most read genre?
I’m not that surprised at this honestly, but according to The Storygraph, out of the 40 finished books 24 fall into the romance genre. Contemporary and fantasy are close by with respectively 14 and 12 books. I’m kind of in my romance era so I didn’t expect anything else.
A book that surprised me?
That’s definitely Dearest Clementine by Lex Martin. I’ve left this book untouched for about 5 years and I totally forgot about it. There are much more layers to this story than I’d expected when judging the book by its blurb alone.
A book that has come out in 2024 that I haven’t yet read?
Oh dear, I don’t even know yet. I’m not on top of the latest releases so I don’t dare answering this question.
One goal you made that you’re succeeding at?
Reading 50 books, see the first question of this tag.
One goal that you need to focus on?
Definitely posting reviews to Goodreads/The Storygraph, I keep forgetting to do so. Fact is that I’m actually too lazy as I have my blog to maintain.
This quarter year crisis is not that bad apparently, but let’s wait and see what will happen in the Mid Year Freak Out tag. I won’t tag anybody, consider yourselves tagged!
