Wrap Up | December 2023

Hello and happy new year! May 2024 be a great year for you, including many books you love. First and foremost, I have to do still one monthly wrap up for 2023 because I’ve read multiple books in December as well. I’m thinking of giving these monthly wrap ups a spin in the new year, but I’m not sure how yet. Well, let’s move on to the books I’ve read and hauled in December!

The Books I’ve read

  1. Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow – This book was sitting on my TBR for several months and I just randomly picked it. It’s trigger heavy, so please keep this in mind before you decide to pick this one up. I had a hard time with the writing, although I understand why it’s done this way. It reflects the main characters mental health. It’s a good way to get readers invested, but it didn’t really work for me since it’s feeling rather distant. ⭐⭐⭐ [review]
  2. The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon – I was in the mood for something lighter, so I picked up this romcom. Yes, it’s lighthearted indeed, but there are – thankfully – some serious themes in this book which provides the necessary depth. All in all, I enjoyed it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ [review]
  3. Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong – This was a reread in my native language and I had such fun with it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ [review]
  4. The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer – Beforehand, I had no clue what to expect. But, what a delightful surprise this was! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ [review]
  5. Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood – I never expected to like this book as much as I did. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ [review]
  6. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross – The final book I’ve finished in 2023 and after a few great reads, I felt rather letdown by this gigantic hype. It’s not a bad book, but I’m not fully convinced either. ⭐⭐⭐ [review]

Unfortunately I had to DNF Powerless by Lauren Roberts, I just couldn’t do it anymore.

Bookhaul

  1. Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare
  2. Someone to stay by Laura Kneidl (not available in English)
  3. Vergeet ons. Niet. by Laura Kneidl (neither available in English)
  4. Betting On You by Lynn Painter
  5. Powerless by Lauren Roberts
  6. Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
  7. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
  8. The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent
  9. Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent

December was a pretty good reading month in comparison to the disasters that were October and November. How was your reading in the final month of 2023?
