Top Ten Tuesday: First Books in Series I have read in 2023

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

the original topic for this week is The 10 newest additions to my bookshelf but I think this has some overlap with my wrap up posts so i decided to do something completely different. In 2023, I’ve read many books, some of them are part of a series. But which books are first books in series? And did I actually read 10 first books in series? Time to find out!

  1. The Awakening by Caroline Peckham & Suzanne Valenti
  2. Tithe by Holly Black
  3. I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver
  4. Fresh Blood by Nicole Arend
  5. The Stolen Heir by Holly Black
  6. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
  7. Twisted Love by Ana Huang
  8. Court of Shadows by Victor Dixen
  9. Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
  10. The Housemaid by Freida mcFadden
  11. A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair
  12. One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus
  13. Slammed by Colleen Hoover
  14. The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi
  15. Icebreaker by Hannah Grace
  16. Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  17. Thieves’ Gambit by Kayvion Lewis
  18. The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty
  19. The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
  20. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
  21. Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare (currently reading)

As you can see, there are more than 10 series starters I’ve read this year. However, there are more but they either aren’t available in English or rereads. I decided to leave them out.

How many series have you started in 2023?

  1. Ooh! Lots of titles I recognised here, although I’ve not read them. I hope you enjoy them!

Wow, you started a lot of series this year!

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

  3. Oooh, great list! I’ve read a couple and have several of them on my TBR.

  4. I LOVED The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi.

  5. Lucy’s book was REALLY popular this year. I saw it on many lists AND I saw Hannah’s too and the cover of that one is cute, making me curious to read more about it since I used to watch figure skating competitions. πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for visiting my website today. I appreciate it.

  6. Book 2 of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is on my TBR list.

Do you think book one should be read first?

    1. Definitely!

  7. You did great with a lot of series started! I didn’t think I’d have a lot myself, but when I checked my Goodreads I still started 16 series this year, so not too bad πŸ™‚

Oh, I like this topic. I started quite a few series this year now that I think about it but not sure of the exact number at the moment. I’ve heard of some of these series but most are new to me.

  9. Wow! I often avoid starting new series because I can’t fully commit to finishing them until I finish other ones I’m reading, lol. I hope you enjoyed these and enjoy the rest of the series too.

  10. I’m REALLY good at starting series, not so good at finishing them! LOL. You read a lot of series openers this year. I hope they lead to lots more great reading in the new year.

    Happy TTT!

  11. 6,7,12, and 13 were ones I enjoyed and also kept reading the series. I DNF’d 15, but that was based on a personal preference. I may try the second.

  12. I’ve read a few of these, but I found The Awakening to be quite possibly one of the most disappointing series starters I’ve ever read – I haven’t read further in the series. But I love reading series and have started quite a few this year. I love this topic idea, mind if I borrow it for a future post?

    1. Of course I don’t mind!

  13. Start a series that is good and I am sunk! Especially when they are good and I want to continue.

  14. Super interested to see how Sword Catcher works for you! I’ve been reading mostly stand-alones lately!

  15. Wow! That is a lot of series. Some of these are on my TBR. Maybe I should start reading them. Hahaha

  16. I love this topic! I start a lot of series, but don’t finish most of them, lol. πŸ™‚
