Top Ten Tuesday: How Am I Doing On My Backlist Titles?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

At the start of this year, I compiled a list of Backlist titles I want to get to in 2023. With there only being 4.5 weeks left of 2023 (HOW?!) and this week’s topic not speaking to me, it’s time to do a check-in on this list. How many titles did I get to and will I manage to squeeze some more in?

  1. Beautiful Mess by Claire Christian – No, I still haven’t read this book. I kind of forgot about it yet again. I think I have to put it on my winter TBR, because the amount of years this book is sitting on my Kindle app is ridiculous.
  2. The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros – Yes, I read this early in the year. I enjoyed it, but less than Yarros’ other books. The timeline in the past interested me more than the timeline in the present. (Click here for my full review)
  3. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne – No, guilty. I still haven’t read this. But this book is not that long, so I might squeeze it into this year still.
  4. Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer – I still haven’t read this either, but I’m not sure whether I still want to. I’m drifting away more and more from YA and this just seems too…. cliche? However, I think I might not enjoy it.
  5. One of Us is Next/One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus – I have read One of Us is Lying but I didn’t enjoy it at all. I have outgrown these kind of books and therefore haven’t read One of Us is Next. (click here for my full review for One of Us is Lying)
  6. I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver – Yes, I read this one and really enjoyed it! I guess it was my first 5-star book of 2023. (click here for my full review)
  7. Kiss & Tell by Adib Khorram – No, I didn’t feel like I wanted to read this book and forgot about it as well .Again, it’s YA and I’m not sure whether I will still enjoy it. Even though it’s a queer one.
  8. The Murders at Fleat House by Lucinda Riley – This is actually a book I still want to read this year. So, who knows!
  9. Confess by Colleen Hoover – Guilty, I haven’t read it and I’m not sure why.
  10. Nougghts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman – I haven’t read this one either and I again don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I keep forgetting about it? Not sure!

As you can see, I’ve just read 3 of the books I originally wanted to read. So, it’s up to you now. Which book(s) should I read before the year is over? And how are you doing on your backlist titles this year?

  1. I read good things about The Murders at Fleat House

  2. Noughts and Crosses is excellent and very cleverly written. Really makes you think. I have a copy of The Murders at Fleat House too but goodness knows when I’ll get to it!

  3. I hope you like all of these that you end up reading!

  5. I really want to read THE MURDERS AT FLEAT HOUSE, too. I definitely won’t get to it this year, but hopefully soon-ish. I hope we both enjoy it!

  6. Confess was fascinating to me with the real anonymous confessions and artwork. I hope you get to read it soon.

  7. THE MURDERS AT FLEAT HOUSE is on my to-read list too. I’ve settled on never really getting through my reading list though. I no sooner read a book than I add two to the list.

  8. you’ve still got time!! I slacked on all my challenges and mood read and have no regrets. Thanks for dropping by my post!

Oh nice! I feel like I’m a partial mood reader. I can’t really plan out my reads too far in advance as I am likely to change my mind or if things like events pop up I’ll rearrange my queue to get to author event books first!

You seem to be doing well on the challenge though! Even having read a few of the ones you planned to is great!

Thanks for visiting my TTT post!

  10. I read Confess and liked it. It was a while ago and I can’t quite remember it, haha. I really want to read One of Us is Lying too! I hope you can get a couple in!

  11. I haven’t done very well with my backlist titles either. I keep getting distracted by the shiny new releases, haha.

  12. “I Wish You All the Best” is such a great book! Glad to hear you enjoyed it too! =)

  13. Ack, I’m always really bad at reading what I say I’m going to read… 😅 Looks like you got some of them read, though, so that’s always a start.
