WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws): What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Since I’m a mood reader, you have to take my last W with a grane of salt though. So, let’s take a look into my 3 W’s, shall we?
What are you currently reading?
I guess my reading slump is kicking in, because I’m still lsitening to The Toll by Neal Shusterman and I only manage to progress 27% in 9 days. I don’t know why, but I barely pick it up. Besides my reading slump and energy levels, the themes of this trilogy and all that’s happening in the world right now are probably not the best combination. I mean, this trilogy finished in 2019 and then AI wasn’t even a thing. Now, it’s rapidly taking over a lot, so yeah. I’m not sure whether I will continue this book or put it aside for now.
What did you recently finish reading?
I finally, finally, finally finished Thieves’ Gambit by Kayvion Lewis and I assure you, this was not for me. I mean, it’s a great book for its target audience, but I clearly don’t belong to that group anymore. It has heists, a tournament, short chapters and close to no depth, so perfect for the younger readers who are not that picky yet. Especially when it comes to the depth in characters part, this book really fell short.
Furthermore, I finished Things We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I’d hoped. This is a clear warning sign that an univited guest is making it’s annual appearance rather sooner than later. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed reading this book, but it was less interesting than it’s predecessor in this series. I wasn’t a fan of the chemistry between Lina and Nash, but more on that in my soon-to-be-published review.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Fourth try: The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty. Also, Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.
I hope I can be more positive about my WWW’s next week, because these reading experiences are such a pity. How was your week in reading?
