Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Recommend to Others the Most

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is: Books I Recommend to Others the Most. We all recommend books every now and then, so here are a few of mine.

  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – DUH! Does this need an explanation? I’ve read it once upon a summer and fell in love. I’ve read it numerous times ever since.
  • Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid – I was a little bit in a reading slump as I wasn’t a real fan of both Daisy Jones and the Six (because of the way of storytelling) and Malibu Rising (because of the story in genera), so I was a little nervous about this one. Well, I’ve devoured it in a matter of days after being in a minor reading slump.
  • A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas – Okay okay, this is the second book in a series, but if people struggle with A Court of Thorns and Roses, I always recommend to continue reading because this book is so much different and more developed.
  • A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara – This one is trigger heavy, but I really had an interesting time reading it. Well, I had some trouble at first, but it got better once I got into it.
  • Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover – This is such a hidden gem by this author. On social media, we see a lot of her other books, mainly Verity and It Ends With Us, but this book must not be forgotten. It’s quite overshadowed now.
  • The Last Letter by Rebecca yarros – If you’re in for an emotional ride, please pick it up!
  • Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey mcQuiston – This is such an entertaining read with royal drama, but also with depth. This romcom deals with the ability to be yourself and love the ones you truly love.
  • Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan – The popularity of this series and universe increased back in 2020, when JKR published some… weird statements to say the least. I have only read 2 books in this series yet, but I should definitely continue!
  • Gild by Raven Kennedy – This one is for all the smud lovers out there. If you love spice and can handle several triggers, this book (and series) is for you. It’s a retelling of the King Midas story.
  • Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson – This is definitely not the best book in terms of quality, but I had a great time reading it. It’s such an enjoyable summer read and I flew through it in a breeze.

Which books do you recommend to others the most?

  1. Evelyn Hugo is one I always end up talking about too. I only recently read Red, White and Royal Blue, so I haven’t mentioned it much, but I did really enjoy it.

  2. I’ve heard so many good things about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

  3. I thought A Little Life was beautiful, bit I’m always hesitant to recommend it because it’s so trigger heavy. I really liked Evelyn Hugo and Red, White, and Royal Blue also.
Here’s my list this week. I did it a bit differently: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2023/05/09/top-ten-tuesday-last-ten-recs-that-i-read/

  4. I greatly enjoyed the Riordan series when I first began them, but they wore a little formulaic. Granted, I’m reading them as an adult and they’re intended for YA peeps! My own TTT is here. 🙂

    1. I’m reading them as an adult too 🙂

  5. They aren’t on my list today, but I would totally recommend those TJR books, Yarros, and Hoover.

  6. Great list! Seven Husbands made my list too!

  7. Quite a diverse selection you have here! I’ve read and enjoyed The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and A Little Life sure is a memorable read.

  8. Great list! I’ve read about half of these, and the other half is on my TBR, so it looks like I’m in for some good reading!

  9. Red, White & Royal Blue is such a great recommendation! I also loved A Little Life. I didn’t really love Daisy Jones & the Six so I haven’t tried any other TJR books. I am really curious to try Gild.

    1. Maybe it was the way of storytelling?

  10. It could be – I think it was more that I just didn’t like either Daisy or Billy lol.

  11. I haven’t read any of these. I have been curious about Hoover because she’s so popular, but people I know have given her books really mixed reviews. My DIL has been binge-reading her lately and she says I wouldn’t like Hoover, probably because she sees me as old and prudish. Ha ha.

    Happy TTT!

  12. Great list! I love Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books, and Evelyn Hugo is probably my favorite! (Well, that and Daisy Jones.)

  13. I definitely talk about how much I love Percy Jackson and recommend it a lot (not that it really needs it at this point since its a pretty well known series!) but it is one of my favourites (my best friend and I bonded over a shared love of Percy Jackson at school and are still friends twelve years later, so it means a lot to me!). I didn’t love ACOTAR, but as you said, I did enjoy ACOMAF more. I’ve still yet to actually finish ACOWAR though, it’s so LONG and I’ve kind of gone of SJM’s books in recent years as I started to find them all quite samey.
