The Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

It’s time for yet another tag! I’ve seen this one over on several blogs lately, but I decided to take it from Raji @ Worlds Unlike Our Own. The tag has been created by Roisin @ Roisin’s Reading. As my reading challenge is in crisis mode (I’m 5 books behind schedule according to Goodreads), I ghues these questions apply to me.

How Many Books Have You Read So Far?

I’ve read 27 books so far this year. My challenge is set to 100, so I have some catching up to do. I also haven’t read much lately. For instance, I was off work this past week and I barely read anything. Currently I’m reading 3 books and on one of them, The Stolen Heir, I’m slumping big time. I might have DNF’ed it already once this post has been published.

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2023 favorite? If not, what was your favorite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?

To be honest, I don’t think so. This quarter it’s I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver, but I’ve also reread some books which finally got a Dutch translation like These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Any 1-star books / least favorite book of the year?

That’s a much easier question to answer, that’s without a doubt Tithe by Holly Black. I rated this book literally 1 star, but I actually should have DNF’ed it. Also, I DNF’ed one book: Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. I just couldn’t do it.

Most Read Genres So Far?

I think that must be YA, but it’s a mix actually.

A Book That Surprised You?

Oh that’s one of my recent reads: Vamps: Fresh Blood by Nicole Arend. Vampires are revived in YA and I always wonder how this will work out. Fortunately, I really enjoyed this one although I was sceptical at the start.

A book that’s come out in 2023 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?

There are a few, but I will pick one which I already pre-ordered in Dutch. It will be released in September here and is The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty.

One Goal You’re Succeeding At?

I haven’t set reading goals for myself this year, I just read casually and laid back.

One Goal You Need to Focus On

Well, I don’t have any.

New to you Bloggers/Booktubers/ Bookstagrammers/Booktokers for 2023 you recommend?

Oh I have many bookstagrammers, but they are all Dutch so not that interesting for this English blog. I don’t do Booktube or Booktok, so I can’t help you out. Book bloggers? Wayh and way too many.
