Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Albums I Love That Are Released This Century

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week it’s time for a non-bookish freebie, where we can highlight other stuff we love besides bookks. I Don’t like TV series et cetera, so I choose to put a spotlight on the albums I love that were released this century. It was a tough choice, but I guess I’ve made an awesome selection. Personally, I’m not much into mainstream music, way too commercial for my taste. I’m more into the alternative rock and sometimes listen to pop music. Without further ado, here is my topt 10 in no particular order. Maybe you find some new hidden gems!

Delta goodrem – Innocent Eyes

Well, this is an album I discovered quite late. Born To Try was a big hit in my country back in 2003 and I liked it back then. However, I was 11, going into secondary school and that’s a tough age. So, I liked that song in secret and forgot about it. Until a few years later. Unfortunately I had to import this album from Australia, so it took me till 2013 before I had the chance to do so.

Delta Goodrem – Wings Of The Wild

I always try to mention as many different titles and authors (in this case artists) as possible, but whatever, it’s my blog so I can do what I want. Wings of te Wild needs to be in this list as well. I was supposed to see Delta in Germany next week, but due to health reasons the European tour is postponed. I honestly can’t wait for a new date to finally see her in concert and meting her after waiting for so long.

The veronicas – The Secret Life Of…

And we stay in Australia a little longer, because this album and I go way back. I discovered it back in 2005, but got it for my 16th birthday in 2006. I just had to wait for the best moment to get this masterpiece. I still believe it’s their best album to date.

Paramore – RIOT!

To be fair, this album is still their best. They have made some good albums after, but this one still doesn’t bore me. I’m absolutely not a fan of their latest album, that one is so boring compared to this.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication

I haven’t listened to this album in ages, but it was the first rock album I wanted. That was back when I was 8. I got it from my granddad for my 9th birthday that year, not knowing he would pass away the day after. Oh well, he already was in hospital, but it still was a weird coincidence.

Rammstein – Zeit

I listened to Rammstein back when I was younger, but they didn’t release any new music. Until a few years ago apparently, but I totally missed that. I also missed the release of this album completely. Well, I have a good excuse for that, because I was way too busy moving. Anyway, I think it’s one of the best albums 2022 brought us.

Demi Lovato – Holy Fvck

Their. Best. Album. Yet. That’s all.

Di-rect – Daydreams In A Blackout

The only Dutch band in this list, but I follow them since their debut in 2001. I try to go to a concert once a year. Lucky for me they play a lot in the local music venue, because they are from my area. This year I already saw them when they did a small tour with an orchestra. This is just one of their albums.

Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More

Back when record stores still were everywhere, I went in for one album and came out with one extra. That was this one. Completely unplanned.

Within Temptation – The Silent Force

This is still one of their best albums. I don’t like their current direction, it has too much of a pop sound.

Have you listened to any of these albums before?

I love seeing what music other people enjoy. While I have heard of several of the artists you’ve mentioned, the only album I think I’ve listened to is Californication.

  11. I’ve not heard any full albums on your post, but I have 3 of Delta Goodrem’s songs in my music library and they are wonderful (Innocent Eyes is one of them, along with Last Night on Earth and In This Life). She’s exactly the kind of artist I tend to like, so your post has definitely inspired me to get myself over to Spotify!

I only know Paramore songs from the radio singles, but That’s What You Get is a fun and catchy one. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have some albums I cherish from various birthdays too; I feel like there’s just something extra-special about getting a CD that way. Do kids today with their instant youtube & spotify gratification even understand that magic? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

and I chuckled at “I went in for one album and came out with one extra.” Random albums you end up loving are the best feeling.

    1. It’s not like I can play those albums anymore, but that’s something totally different.
