Goodreads Monday | The Red Scrolls of Magic

Goodreads Monday is a meme hosted by Emily @ Budget Tales Bookblog. The purpose of this meme is to talk all things Goodreads like you want, but it mainly is used to highlight a book that has been on your TBR. My Goodreads TBR is long, so without further ado, here’s my pick for the week.

This week’s pick is:

The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses #1) by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu

I totally forgot this book was on my TBR! I have the ebook even, whoops. However, I’m a little on the fence nowadays whether I want to continue reading more stories in the Shadowhunter world. There are lots of books in it and they get somewhat repetitive. Furthermore, I’m not much of a type for side stories and that’s exactly what this book is. A side story about 2 characters of “The Mortal Instruments”. Be aware of spoilers in the blurb further on in this post. Also, there is a co-writer on this, I don’t know whether this is something positive or negative. Lately, I found myself struggling with both Queen of Air and Darkness and Chain of Gold, so that’s why I’m a little in doubt.

Goodreads Choice AwardNominee for Best Fantasy (2019)
From #1 New York Times bestseller Cassandra Clare and award-winner Wesley Chu comes the first book in a new series that follows High Warlock Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood as they tour the world after the Mortal War. The Red Scrolls of Magic is a Shadowhunters novel.
All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation—a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke.
Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand and its elusive new leader before the cult can cause any more damage. As if it wasn’t bad enough that their romantic getaway has been sidetracked, demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever—even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping.

What do you think, should I keep it on my TBR? Is it worth it? Or should I better remove it?
