Book Blogger Hop | February 17-23 | ARCs

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings Of A Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s prompt:

Do you use other sources for ARCs besides NetGalley? (submitted by Bonnie @ Bonnie Reads and Writes)

Well, no I don’t do ARCs and honestly I’m happpy about that. For me, it would put a lot of pressure on reading and reviewing and I’m afraid I might loose my joy of both then. On social media, I see how much stress ARCs can bring fellow book reviewers (no matter the platform) and I don’t want that for myself. I think I might be influenced by the hype too much and I will drown in a pile of ARCs in no time. Furthermore, many ARCs are distributed physically and I’m a digital reader. So no, I don’t even use Netgalley, let alone other resources.

How about you? Do you try to request ARCs and which platform(s) do you use?

  1. I use NetGalley and I was definitely stressed out the first 2 years of using it because I was building my blog. But I’ve learned to curb my requests so now I’m not stressed out like before and all of mine are digital arcs because I mostly read on my kindle app which is awesome.
