2022 Recap: July-September

2022 Is coming to an end which means that many people start wrapping the year up by looking back on the events of this past year. Yearly, we bookworms read many books, so do I. In this series I’ll be recapping 2022.

This week: the third quarter of the year.

July

Unfortunately the events of the first half of the year took their toll on me in July, I was really really tired. Even that tired I had to take a break from week urgently. July was also the month of another book event, but also the month of a funeral. Furthermore, we had temperatures nearly hitting 40 degrees Celsius, only to drop down majorly the week after. Fortunately, I was able to read several books though.

  • Number of books finished: 15
  • Number of books DNF’ed: 2, The Witch King by H.E. Edgmon and Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
  • Number of hauled books: 5
  • Number of these new books read in 2022: 5
  • 5-star reads: 2, The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni and Elektra by Jennifer Saint
  • Favorite book: The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni
  • Books that disappointed me: Youngblood by Sasha Laurens and Listen To Me by Tess Gerritsen

August

August came and went without leaving much of an impression. It was summer though, including yet another heatwave. What else happened this month? I seriously cannot tell you.

  • Number of books finished: 10
  • Number of books DNF’ed: 0
  • Number of hauled books: 12
  • Number of these new books read in 2022: 6
  • 5-star reads: 0
  • Favorite book: An original Dutch fantasy and that’s quite unique
  • Books that disappointed me: Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen, You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao and yet another Dutch book

September

In September it was finally time for me to have my Summer break, which meant 2 weeks off work. It was such a pity my holidays started like summer and ended like winter. Also, I had to go to the doctors at my first day off work, thankfully it was nothing major. Finally, it was my birthday as well this month. I managed to read several books, but less than I’m used to.

  • Number of books finished: 7
  • Number of books DNF’ed: 0
  • Number of hauled books: 11
  • Number of these new books read in 2022: 7
  • 5-star reads: 0
  • Favorite book: The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber
  • Books that disappointed me: Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare and Babel by R.F. Kuang

To me, it felt like summer came and went by without leaving much of an impression. I noticed however, that I’ve read a lot less in those months with my lowest munber of books ever in September. However, this month was bad in quantity, August was bad in Quality. Most books I’ve read in August were mediocre at best.

Next week it’s time to wrap the year up with the 4th and final quarter. Want to read more?
